Literature on Natural Disasters in Istanbul During the Ottoman Era
Along with its strategic geographical location, Istanbul constitutes one of the most important economic, commercial, industrial, historical and culturel centers of Turkey. Throughout history, it has experienced many devastating natural disasters and has become seriously damaged. This study presents a compact literature on studies and sources about natural disasters such as earthquakes, fires, floods, hurricanes, epidemics and so forth happening during the Ottoman Istanbul, after briefly explaining their destruction impact and results.
