Art historiography in the Ottoman period is not a very well explored field. Most of the topics are treated at a superficial level due to the belief that there exist no written sources. One of the subheadings that have to be treated under art historiography is architectural monographs. The first architectural monographs that appeared in the second half of the 19th century in the Ottoman Empire are Feth-i Kostantiniyye ve Tarif-i Ayasofya, Tarih-i Ayasofya, Eifel Kulesi, Kariye Cami-i Şerifi, Saray Bosna’da Ebniyye-i Hayriyyenin Musavver Tarihi: I. Hünkâr Cami-i Şerifi, Berketzâde Çeşmesi and Tarih-i Cami-i Şerif-i Nuruosmaniye. This article aims to provide introductory information on these printed texts in Ottoman Turkish.
