The Novel in Turkish Literature: Republican Era

The novel penetrated into Turkish Literature as a belated literary genre towards the second half of the 19th century and made its way as a central part of our literature by the end of the century. This significance mounted even higher during the Republican Era and it was followed by a great deal of writings on the novel as well as books of theoretical, monographic or thematic research. In order to trace the progression of Turkish literature in the light of novels, one must be aware of the writings on these novels in addition to the novels themselves. Thus, this study provides a brief literature review on the direction of this progression.
