Studies on Ottoman Waqf Law
This paper analysis the studies on Ottoman Law of Foundations. In this context, the formation and development of the law of foundations and its sources analysed in general and the studies in Ottoman and Republican periods were analysed in detail. Studies in the Ottoman period can be divided into two categories which one took Mejelle as a model, and the other was the textbooks written for the higher education institutions. The studies in the Republican period has been grouped as the studies analysing Ottoman period, modern period and history of the law of the foundations. Finally, a selected literature of books, articles, papers and thesis was given in order to give a base for the researchers. Generally speaking, although there is an increasing interest in the field, the studies on Ottoman law of foundations has not yet reached to transmit the accumulated knowledge of Ottomans to the benefit of today's academicians and jurists.
