Epistomology in Turkey

Focusing on studies on the philosophy of knowledge in Turkey, this article provides a critical analysis of related works of published books and articles in terms of historical period, topic and methodology. After a brief consideration of the history of the philosophy of knowledge in Turkey, a conceptual analysis of documents presented in the article is followed by concrete observations on the present state and perspectives on the issue. Considering that a significant portion of studies on the philosophy of knowledge in Turkey are, in fact, studies of the history of the philosophy of knowledge, that no specific system or ecole has arisen throughout the 20th century and furthermore, that in the case of Turkey, only 6% of scholars writing in the field can be technically termed as philosophers of knowledge, it can be claimed that the field has several complex problems. Hence, it is suggested that the philosophy of knowledge has to be prioritized as a discipline and the present scattered literature needs to be replaced by problem-oriented and systematic studies.
