Studies on the History of Libraries of Istanbul

Research on the history of the libraries of Istanbul began towards the end of the 19th century and by the beginning of the 20th century, it had grown into an academic discipline. Süheyl Ünver, Müjgan Cunbur and İsmail Erünsal pioneered the academic research in this field. Thus in this article, the work of these three academics on Ottoman endownment trust libraries is discussed in detail, with other relevant works cited in the bibliography.
