Spanish Historiography on "Ottoman Algeria

This work presents a brief historical approach to the writings produced by Spanish historians and chroniclers between the 16th and the early 19th centuries on "Ottoman Algeria"; which constitute a specific group under the Spanish historiographical production of the modern era. These writings are characterized by an expansionist vision but also by a sense of frustration as a consequence of Spain's failure to stop the Algerian privateering. The aim of this study is to reveal its contents and to analyze the evolution of the Spanish mindset in this context.
